Sarah's Bands
Out of this exploration grew a band called Black Eden, which bore a striking resemblance to the 21st Century Girls!! It was around this time that Sarah began to play bass. She joined a classical guitar group at school, and a Jazz band! After the members of Black Eden grew apart Sarah began to go to an Eleventh Session music workshops near Mansfield, and there she met a singer-guitarist and a drummer and together they formed a band called Alysium. Alysium were together for two years and in that time they became well-known in the Mansfield/Nottingham area and gathered a large following of fans. Sarah was well known for her short Brit-poppy dresses, flicked up hair and bouncy stage act.
By this time Sarah was sixteen, and had been accepted unconditionally onto Clarendon College's popular music course, where she met her friend Jez and together they played in a Beatles cover band, a couple of other "useless college bands," and later with her best friend Amy, Sarah began a seventies carwash band called Retro, who were filmed by a local television crew. Sarah was still playing in Retro when she got a phone call from the manager of Hepburn. |
