Hepburn - The Album
E: Tell me about the album?
S: We're very proud of it. Jamie and Lisa co-wrote half of the album. We worked with great writers including Phil Thornalley, Colin Campsie, Boo Hewerdine and Gary Clark. We have a lot of different sounding songs on the album and we've experimented quite a lot. There's a dance track on the album, a motown track, pop/rock ditties like I Quit and Bugs and some slower tracks. No real ballads I'm afraid! But don't worry. This may all sound very diverse, but it all sounds like Hepburn!
E: What's this rumour about Chesney Hawkes?
S: I think it's really cool that he wrote on the album. He writes some really good pop/rock tunes, and the song that he wrote on (Next Life) is one of my favourites.
E: And the story about Natalie Imbruglia and I Quit?
S: Natalie decided not to record I Quit, so we snapped it up!! We feel very lucky to work with Phil, especially with I Quit.
E: What's your fave track?
S: Bugs, because it's really catchy and one of our most heavy songs, and being a rock chick this suits me down to the ground! It's about choosing your own destiny, being free to do as you want and not being squashed like a "bug on a windshield!"
My second favourite track is Next Life because it's a really beautiful song and I like the string section a lot. It's also got a very different theme to our other songs (it's about a killer!) and I think the imagery in the lyrics is very strong and very spooky.
