Bass Heroes

E: Who are your heroes?

S: Well, firstly, Cliff Burton I think. The first Metallica bass player. He was technically amazing.

E: What about girl bassists?

S: Definitely D'arcy from Smashing Pumpkins - she's wicked! She looks really cool as well. I'd say Melissa Auf Der Maur, the Hole bass player, for the same reasons. Plus she's got a great voice. I think Sean, too, the ex-White Zombie bass player. Because she was the first girl to play bass well in a really heavy band.

E: Who's your newest hero?

S: Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I never really thought about him, but after seeing him live at Reading '99 (me and Lisa went together) I have real respect for him.

E: Anyone else we should know about...?

S: Yes! The guy from Rage Against the Machine taught me everything I know!
